Musical

Things I like: seeing my high school children, love them.... they are fun and make me feel useful and appreciated, conducting great music (with winds and vocals,) the music itself (who doesn't love musical theatre,) feeling like I am "really" using my course work (well the music ed parts.)

Things I do not like: not seeing my family, how sad it makes Chad (no really, it makes him sad and not be his usual self,) how it throws off EVERYONE's schedule (trying to balance, sleeping, "real" job, transportation/child care, Chad's work schedule, the boy's sleep schedule,) how bad my arm hurts today from trying to give cues to children standing by the pyramid, how sweaty I get conducting for 3 hours straight, how I don't get to exercise, how I eat like crap, how I feel like my life is out of control.

$900 :)

The Barnes and Noble bookfair raised over $900 for our classroom libraries at PJHS. Thanks to my friends and family who came out to support this fundraiser and listen to my students (and myself) perform. ~Kimberly

Lil play date...

Not for the kids... for the momma....
Tomorrow, 4/17 Barnes & Noble in Bloomington (near Schnuck's off Veteran's Parkway) from 10-11 a.m. some of my PJHS Orchestra students and myself will be performing in the cookbook section.
If you need to make any purchases at the store or cafe tomorrow just mention PJHS and they will donate a portion of the purchase back to the school to purchase books for our classroom libraries.

Sermon Quote

I have to tip my hat to our pastor Vaughn for a very wonderful, uplifting and inspiring sermon on Easter. It was great (if you really want to catch it our church, Wesley United Methodist, has started putting the sermons on podcasts and you can download it and give it a listen.) Here was my favorite part, "What is Easter about if it is not God's way of telling us a new direction is possible, anything is possible." (Vaughn Hoffman, April 4, 2010)

Mommy Moments...

So two things within the last 24 hours to make me thankful, if you are a mom I think you will completely understand how wonderful these tiny things are:
1) Last night Killian was chillin' on the "little" sofa when Cohen wanted to join him and was struggling to climb up.  Very calm and soft I could hear Killian talking to him, "It's ok buddy, I will help you, just trust me, you can do it!"  Then when he got up, "Good job buddy, I knew you could do it with a little help!" (now that is why I wanted to have a 2nd child so desperately, it was a GREAT mommy moment)
2) This morning Cohen did his wonderful wake-up of screaming well before Chad wanted to get up for the day so he went and got him and put him in our bed with him (yes, I can hear your snickers now!) when I got out of the shower and was getting ready I crawled back in bed with them and snuggled with Cohen a bit and this may seem weird, but don't you just LOVE the smell of your babies?  I couldn't get enough of the Cohen smell into my lungs... Aw... that's what its all about!

Plateau

In case you hadn't heard, the plateau is broken, WOOHOO!
